It works by applying "softness over sharpness," using deliberate spherical aberration on top of a sharp "core" image at apertures from f/2.8 thru 5.6; images taken at apertures smaller than f/5.6 are always sharp. Autofocus continues to function, with or without the soft focus in use. This lens is an ideal addition to a portrait or scenic photographers arsenal. The Ravelli Tripods mini tripod is great when you need a very compact or portable mount for your digital camera or webcam. The 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC lens was exclusively designed to suit the characteristics of digital SLR cameras. Ideal as a standard starter zoom lens, this lens provides an equivalent range of approx. 28-80mm when used with a Canon digital SLR camera (*). The use of aspherical lenses provides correction for various aberrations throughout the entire zoom range and produce a high level of optical performance.
DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is made to match the smaller dimensions used for the image sensor on digital cameras. As a result these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.
